Brief Observations "Where it wasn't intellectually challenging, it was filthy."
"I hate this. I feel outrage and disappointment. I feel betrayed.
... Dismiss this fuming letter-review as the ravings of a
non-music-oriented pulp reader who resents your ineffable
cliche-ridden brilliance and who yearns for the Good Old Days of
Alfred Bester and A. E. van Vogt in their prime."
"Thank you so much for turning me on to Ciphers and Paul Di
Filippo. I cannot recall being simultaneously stimulated, stretched,
and disturbed so effectively since reading VALIS for the first
time in 1988. Ciphers was much more entertaining, to boot. The
confluence of memes (any of which were interesting on their own)
made for quite a ride. The frothy fractal frolic layered on a sea of
significant sacred symbology was an engrossing combination I truly
enjoyed. Some of Mr. Di Filippo's parenthetical comments (interleaved
with so many wild puns I nearly peed myself laughing) contained more
to think about than entire chapters by other good writers. I loved
it. He is the sultan of synthesis, the inspired instrument of
insidious information, the holy depraved cracker of wisdom. Please
suggest additional Di Filippo titles I might purchase..."
Regarding the Book Design and Images Someone whose wife was offended by the cover photos "Hey, the cover illo of the nude woman with the python is
great!"
